We’re Oli and Steph Prince, Isle of Skye proposal photographers, adventurers, and dog-parents. We live here on Skye, just 25 minutes from the awe inspiring Quiraing, where we photograph proposals for lots of couples visiting the island.

We’ve worked with couples from the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Singapore and Australia here on the Isle of Skye.

HOW DOES ISLE OF SKYE PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORK?

When it comes to planning your proposal, you have two options to choose from.

Option 1: Booking a Photography Session and Proposing During It

This option is perfect if you’d like your partner to expect a photo session—and then surprise them with a proposal. Imagine their delight when you drop to one knee and pop the question!

Advantages of this option include:

  • Your partner is dressed for a photo session
  • We can be closer to you for the proposal moment as they will be expecting photographers
  • We can guide you closely on the day, so you are standing in the exact perfect spot for your proposal

Option 2: A Completely Surprise Proposal

For those wanting the element of complete surprise, we can capture the moment without your partner knowing we’re there until the proposal.

We’ll work with you in advance to plan the logistics, including the location, timing, and positioning to make sure we capture the moment from the best angles. After the proposal, we can step in for your engagement session to capture the two of you together in the stunning surroundings of the Isle of Skye.

  • Arouses less suspicion if you aren’t a couple that typically books photo sessions

THE Best places to PROPOSE on the Isle of Skye

Quiraing

The Quiraing is our number one location for proposals on Skye, and it is easy to see why. With the unique landscape of rolling green hills, epic cliffs lines and the easy accessibility, it’s a perfect choice.

If you have more time then we suggest a longer hike to explore the cliff tops and take some epic drone images, but within five minutes walk you can be in an otherworldly location.

Top tip: this is a popular location on Skye so meet us at sunrise or in the evening to avoid onlookers.

SLIGACHAN

Nestled between the Cuillin mountains and the Red Hills, Sligachan is the ideal spot for couples who love the outdoors and are enchanted by mythology. With an old stone bridge and majestic mountains looming in the distance, it’s said that the waters of Sligachan have magical powers that bestow eternal beauty. Why not propose by the river, and let your love story be part of this legendary setting?

NEIST POINT

For a clifftop, coastal proposal, Neist Point is perfect. The iconic lighthouse on the westernmost tip of Skye offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and rugged cliffs. At sunset, the light softens over the horizon, creating a mesmerising golden hour moment for your proposal.

If your partner loves the sea or dramatic landscapes, Neist Point will take their breath away as you ask the most important question.

OLD MAN OF STORR

The towering rock pinnacles of the Old Man of Storr are a signature feature of Skye’s skyline. As one of the most photographed locations in Scotland, it provides an incredible backdrop for a proposal. Imagine getting down on one knee with the jagged peaks behind you, framed by the rugged landscape below and views stretching over the Sound of Raasay.

It’s a 45 minute – 1 hour hike up, and the payoff is a truly epic proposal scene.

Top tip: go at sunrise for the best views and the least people.

We’ll send over our pricing and a quote, so you can get booked in using our online system. We take a 50% retainer fee, and the balance is due 30 days before your date.

02. Once you’re in, we’re in!

Book your date and we’ll start planning your Isle of Skye proposal, we’ll send you a questionnaire, our Skye accommodation guide and we’ll choose your amazing locations.

03. Your Proposal day is here – you show up and we bring the magic

Everything is taken care of, so you can relax, enjoy every second of your proposal, and have an awesome day!

04. You get to relive your Isle of Skye proposal through your photographs

You will receive all of your photographs in a stunning online gallery that you can share with family and friends, and download high resolution images from. We can also create a fine-art album for you to treasure forever.

Order your proposal album when you book your session and save 20%. We offer fine-art albums made by one of the top album producers in the USA. Having an online gallery is great, but seeing your images in print takes your experience to the next level!

We’ll work with you to understand your vision, whether you want something adventurous, scenic, or private. Based on your preferences and the time of year, we can recommend locations that fit the mood and lighting you’re looking for.

We recommend aiming for around sunrise or sunset, as we will have the best light, which will make the photos much more epic. Plus we will get the more popular tourists spots more to ourselves.

We aim to provide preview images within 72 hours of the proposal, and the full gallery is typically delivered within 2-3 months, depending on our schedule.

It depends on how many hours you book with us and how many locations we visit. From a 2-hour session you will receive over 100 images.

Some of our favourite photographs have been taken in the rain. We say embrace it! Skye is a very wet place, so no matter the time of the year, you could still have rain on your day. We will keep the whole day free for you, so we can aim for the driest part of the day. We will bring our dryrobes and umbrellas to keep your warm and as dry as possible, but just have fun! Dance in the rain, and we’ll capture epic photos of it!

Yes, as long as you’ve booked at least a 3 hour session there will be time to change outfits. There are no changing rooms here on Skye though, so remember you’ll be changing in the car or at the side of the road.
